Finally! A book has been released that addresses the issue of balancing family and ministry. "Families in Ministry-How to Thrive, Not just Survive" is a "must read" book for all called to serve the Lord as a family. Written by Andreas and Angela Fresz, International Directors of YWAM Family Ministries, and YWAM staff members since 1987 this book can serve as a great resource for yourself or can be used as a course for families.
The eight chapters address topics such as, "My vision, your vision, our vision - who has priority?", "Dealing with community life issues", "Understanding differences", "Dealing with conflict, stress and crisis", "The blessings and challenges of pioneering situations and living in an international community" and "How to build the family team in the midst of all that".
Each chapter comes with practical suggestions for spouse or group dialogue, as well as, ideas on how to implement the teaching in your own family. Twenty seven people have written their testimonies between the chapters and share about their experiences as families in ministry, their challenges and what they have learned from it.

Here is what some YWAM leaders are saying about the book:
Christoph Leu, King's Kids International Executive Director:
To equip and release families into their God-given calling and to see our society changed and transformed by such families is one of the very urgent and important tasks of the Body of Christ. This book is an excellent and practical help and inspiration in this. Angela and Andreas Fresz share not just theory or ideas but real life stories and examples. I highly recommend this book to read and to be put into practice.
Jeff and Romkje Fountain:
Angela and Andreas have given us a book that is timely, down-to earth, practical, and very readable. Today's families in ministry need this type of clear advice from those who have "walked the talk"! Highly recommended reading.
Larry Ballard, Director of Family Resource Centre (University of the Nations):
I have had the privilege of working closely with Andreas and Angela since 1990. They and their two children helped me and my wife staff a three-month YWAM Family Ministry School in the US. I have been in their home on numerous occasions since that time and have personally observed how they live out the principles presented in this practical and insightful book. I can testify that the truths they share are authentic and have been lived out in their own family. If you are called to serve the Lord as a family and are feeling overwhelmed by the pressures and demands of ministry, this book is for you. You too, can thrive and not just survive.
